Carrier-Beam Overhead Cranes

A carrier-beam overhead crane spreads the lift across several pickup points to handle steel plate, sections, bundles and other long loads. Compare fixed beam orientations and a lower-rotating arrangement for moving and turning material in your workshop.

Fixed and rotating carrier-beam cranes

Choose a fixed carrier beam when the load stays in the same orientation. Choose a rotating beam when pickup and placement require a change of direction. Magnets, clamps or grouped hooks are selected separately for the material.

Price & supply scope

What determines a carrier-beam crane’s price?

The price depends on the complete lifting arrangement, not rated capacity alone. Beam length, pickup spacing, rotation, working class and controls can change the crane and attachment package. Send the material dimensions, maximum load, span and lifting height for a configured quotation.

Price factor What to compare in the offer
Crane configuration Compare capacity, span, lifting height, working class and travel distance on the same basis.
Beam and lifting attachment Confirm fixed or rotating layout, beam length, pickup spacing, and the magnets, clamps or hooks supplied.
Power and controls Identify site voltage, operating controls and any specified rotation protection or anti-sway functions.
Delivery and site work List runway rails, power feed, installation, commissioning, freight and delivery terms as included items, options or exclusions.

A complete crane quote should identify the bridge, trolley, lifting mechanism, carrier beam and attachment package. An attachment-only price is a different supply scope.

Project experience

Six lower-rotating beam cranes for aerospace handling

Henan Mine Crane supplied six lower-rotating carrier-beam bridge cranes as part of a 24-unit lifting-equipment delivery for an aerospace institute. The mixed fleet passed site acceptance.

The rotating-beam equipment used PLC and variable-frequency closed-loop control, anti-sway functions and obstacle detection for the project’s handling requirements. These were project-specific features; the lifting attachment and control package are selected for each application.

For steel that suits magnetic pickup, compare the dedicated electromagnetic range. Beam orientation, rotation position and magnet arrangement are separate choices.

Carrier-beam crane buying questions

What is the difference between parallel and perpendicular carrier beams?

The names describe the beam’s direction relative to the crane’s main girders. A parallel beam follows the girder direction; a perpendicular beam lies at right angles to it. Choose the layout around the stock position and pickup and set-down points. Neither fixed layout turns the load during transfer.

Does a 10+10 t rating mean 20 t of material can be lifted?

Do not assume that it is the net material payload. Keep the paired rating and confirm the permitted combined load, load distribution and attachment weight allowance for the selected crane. The notation alone does not establish two independently operated hoists.

Should I choose magnets, clamps or hooks?

The choice depends on the material, dimensions, surface condition, temperature and pickup points. For magnetic handling, give the steel grade, plate thickness or section size and whether you lift one item or a bundle. For clamps or grouped hooks, include the gripping or lifting-point details.

When is a lower-rotating carrier beam needed?

Choose a rotating arrangement when the load must change direction between pickup and placement. State the required turning angle, workpiece length and available clearance. A rotating beam is a separate configuration from a fixed parallel or perpendicular beam; its load, speeds and rotation limits must be selected together.

Can the same crane handle different material lengths?

Different lengths can require different pickup spacing and beam arrangements. Send the shortest and longest workpieces, their weights and the required lifting points. Confirm the handling range in the selected beam and attachment drawing rather than assuming one fixed pickup arrangement suits every length.

What should I send to get a quotation?

Start with the material, its maximum weight and dimensions, the required crane span and lifting height, and the project location. Tell us whether the load needs to rotate. If you need only a beam or attachment for an existing crane, include the crane nameplate and available hook arrangement.
