Lifting attachment price guide: compare size and package
Lifting attachment prices vary with the mechanism, size, material, crane interface and included power or control package. For early budgeting, this guide gives planning ranges for five separate families: four-rope clamshell grabs, electric motor-mechanical clamshell grabs, multi-petal scrap grabs, magnetic lifting beams and crane hook blocks. The estimates describe equipment-only scenarios, not current supplier quotations or complete crane systems.
Grab sizes are nominal m³; magnetic-beam entries are planning layouts without a verified standalone rating; hook-block labels are budget keys and do not establish replacement compatibility. Filter by attachment type to compare like-for-like configurations.
All amounts are author-prepared preliminary planning estimates in USD, not current Henan Mine prices, confirmed sales, or binding quotations. Grab volume is not payload in tonnes. Magnetic beam labels are configuration scenarios, not rated capacities. Freight, taxes, site work and equipment not listed are excluded.

What these lifting attachment price ranges cover
These preliminary USD ranges are author-prepared planning allowances for the attachment or defined assembly shown. They are not current Henan Mine quotations, confirmed sale prices, or complete crane-system prices. The four-rope and motor-mechanical grabs are separate drive interfaces; a crane hook or nameplate rating alone does not establish compatibility.
Grab rows use nominal bucket volume in cubic metres, not tonnes of rated cargo. Magnetic-beam rows name layout scenarios only because no verified standalone beam capacity, tare or universal size range is available. Hook-block rows use nominal assembly classes for budget grouping and do not establish a replacement fit. The rows are grouped by attachment type because bucket volume, magnetic-beam layout and hook-block class use different size bases.
The standard allowance is one attachment package with the parts described in the row. Crane, hoist, site modification, freight, taxes, installation and commissioning are outside the equipment estimate. Special wear materials, environmental packages, controls, testing and spares require a separate scope.
How each attachment configuration changes the budget
A four-rope clamshell depends on the crane’s rope count, reeving, drum geometry and rope path. The estimate covers the grab assembly, not a new multi-drum crane or a universal rope set. A larger bucket changes structure and handling envelope, but volume by itself does not define its safe cargo mass.
The motor-mechanical clamshell has an onboard opening/closing mechanism. Existing catalogue examples use distinct architectures, including an internal electric hoist and a head-mounted motor, reducer and drum. The rows are planning scenarios, not proof that every size uses either arrangement. Electrical feed, control, motor duty and crane suspension must be selected together; this estimate does not describe an electro-hydraulic grab.
Multi-petal scrap-grab figures include an allowance for a matched opening/closing actuator package. Exact drive, gearbox, controls and crane interface remain selection details. For a magnetic beam, the modeled package expressly includes selected magnets, beam, suspension, DC supply/rectifier and a backup-system allowance; it does not assign a generic rated payload or backup duration. Hook-block budgets distinguish a complete lower block from a hook-only purchase.
Compare attachments by task, not just nominal size
A 0.5 m³ four-rope grab and a 0.5 m³ motor-mechanical grab may share a nominal volume, but they are not interchangeable. The former depends on compatible crane rope functions; the latter carries an opening/closing drive package and electrical interface. Compare the same material, bulk density, fill condition, bucket geometry and duty before treating their budgets as alternatives.
For example, a bucket’s cargo estimate starts with nominal volume × actual bulk density × a realistic fill factor. Then add confirmed grab self-weight and applicable suspended rigging. Compare the resulting total with the crane’s permitted load for the actual operating position and grab duty. The catalogue cargo figure for one example cannot be transferred to a different bucket or existing crane.
Similarly, a magnetic module’s pull force, a complete beam’s structural rating and a crane’s working-load limit are different quantities. Steel grade, thickness, surface condition, contact, beam deflection, magnet layout and power-loss response belong to one selected lift case. A 10 t hook-block planning label also does not fit every 10 t hoist.
What moves an attachment budget up or down
- Material and wear: bulk density, particle size, moisture, abrasiveness, scrap shape and expected operating duty affect bucket structure and wear components.
- Volume and mass: bucket volume changes the structure; actual payload depends on density and fill, while attachment self-weight consumes part of the crane load allowance.
- Drive and interface: rope arrangement, motor/reducer package, electrical supply, cabling, controls and crane geometry can change scope.
- Magnetic package: beam span, steel cases, magnet selection, DC power supply, monitoring and specified backup alter the designed system and its price.
- Hook block fit: sheave count, rope diameter, reeving, hook form, block height, self-weight and machining determine whether a proposed assembly matches.
- Commercial boundary: quantity, packaging, inspection, export freight, destination tax and site work must be compared consistently.
A low number without the attachment’s own mass, interface and included drive can understate the project requirement. Ask the supplier proposal to identify the selected package and its exclusions before comparing line items.
Keep the attachment budget separate from the complete lifting system
The price table is an attachment-equipment allowance. A complete working system can also require a compatible crane or hoist, rope drums, suspension, power supply, cable reel or festoon, controls, structural changes and site electrical work. These items should be listed separately instead of silently added to or removed from a grab price.
For powered grabs, confirm whether the stated price includes the drive, motor control, local protection and cables. The magnetic-beam assumptions include a DC supply/rectifier and a backup allowance, but the final design still needs a defined steel case, system monitoring, alarm, fault response and verified hold period where backup is specified. No generic magnetic package is represented as safe for all metals or every load condition.
For a replacement hook block, separate the block assembly from ropes, hoist changes, installation and tests. Freight, duties, taxes, commissioning, operator instruction, spare parts and local approvals are not included in the modeled attachment ranges. The final commercial proposal should make the delivery boundary explicit.
Choose the right attachment before comparing offers
Start from the material or load geometry and the existing crane interface. For bulk grabs, establish the material’s upper bulk density, lump size, moisture and abrasion, plus the intended volume and fill. Confirm the grab’s self-weight and rope or electrical connection before checking crane capacity.
For a magnetic beam, define the steel grade, length, width, thickness, surface, temperature, pickup arrangement and lifting points. Confirm beam tare, full electrical package and any specified backup behavior as part of the complete system design. The estimate is a planning range only; it does not say the beam can lift any metal, plate or load in all conditions.
For a hook-block replacement, identify the hoist and assembly drawing, rope diameter, reeving, sheave grooves, dimensions, hook form and block mass. A nominal tonnage match is not enough. Review the linked product page for the applicable attachment family, then request a configuration-specific quotation based on a defined scope.
Lifting Attachments & Grabs price questions
Compare the same lifting task, equipment scope and site responsibilities.
Are these current Henan Mine prices?
No. They are author-prepared preliminary USD planning estimates, not current supplier quotations, confirmed sales, or guaranteed prices. A written offer must confirm the selected model and supply scope.
Does a 3 m³ grab lift three tonnes?
Not necessarily. Nominal volume is not payload mass. Estimate cargo from actual bulk density and fill, then add grab self-weight and rigging before comparing the full suspended load with the crane allowance.
Can a four-rope grab work with any overhead crane?
No. The crane must provide a compatible rope arrangement, reeving and drum geometry for the selected grab. Confirm rope count, diameter and paths before treating an attachment as compatible.
Is an electric motor clamshell the same as an electro-hydraulic grab?
No. The motor-mechanical category uses an electric hoist or motor/reducer/drum arrangement to operate a mechanical bucket. An electro-hydraulic unit uses an electric motor to power hydraulic actuation; its package and interface differ.
Does a magnetic beam price include the power supply and backup?
The modeled price rows explicitly include an allowance for a matched DC power supply/rectifier and a specified backup package. The system’s voltage, monitoring, alarm, backup duration, permitted steel cases and performance still require confirmation in the selected design.
Can I replace a hook block with another block of the same tonnage?
Not based on tonnage alone. Match the hook form, rope diameter, reeving, sheaves, groove geometry, block dimensions, self-weight and hoist design before approving a replacement.
