BUYING DECISION

Choose an industrial gantry crane around the load path, required hook coverage and operating cycle. Use a portable frame for approved occasional handling, a rail gantry for repeat travel and a semi-gantry where one side can use a supported runway. Published truss-gantry examples range from USD 5,513.20 to USD 30,184 across very different geometries.

01Select the arrangement for the handling route

Arrangement Practical fit Check before selection
Portable gantry Occasional maintenance or assembly within a small work area Movement rules, floor and setup clearance
Full rail gantry Repeated transfers along a fixed indoor or outdoor route Ground rails, foundations and power feed
Semi-gantry One side can use an elevated supported runway Building loads, rail coordination and shared floor traffic
Double-girder gantry Applications needing a trolley arrangement or duty beyond a proposed single girder Complete crane design, duty and usable hook height

Single versus double girder is an engineering choice, not a universal capacity cutoff. Compare the proposed arrangements at the same operating duty and coverage. Review the available gantry crane configurations against the handling route.

02Choose useful coverage, not just nominal span

Define the heaviest load together with lifting attachments and the relevant rating basis. Consider its center of gravity and pickup points. Long, flexible loads or tandem lifts need a specific handling arrangement rather than a capacity increase alone.

Rail-center span is not the same as hook coverage. Legs, end approaches and trolley limits reduce the area that the hook can reach. Cantilevers add coverage outside the legs but also affect structural design and wheel reactions.

Compare clear hook height at the pickup and placement points. Beam depth, trolley dimensions and the lifting attachment consume space. A taller gantry does not automatically create the required clearance under a low roof.

03Match duty, ground support and exposure

Capacity states the load limit; duty addresses the operating cycle and load spectrum. A crane selected for occasional maintenance is not automatically suitable for repeated loaded production travel.

Ground support is part of the purchase decision. Rail reactions must reach a suitable foundation; rubber-tyred or portable systems need verified floor or pavement conditions. Outdoor cranes also need site-specific wind, securing and environmental provisions. Confirm the ordered design rather than assuming that a general outdoor label covers the site.

04Industrial gantry prices: why tonnage is not enough

The following published truss-gantry equipment examples were checked in October 2026. They are supplier references, not Henan Mine quotations or installed prices.

Rated load / span / lift Published duty and control Equipment reference, USD
10 t / 9.5 m / 9 m A3; ground + remote 5,513.20
3 t / 16.7 m / 5 m A3; ground + remote 9,118.20
16 t / 37.5 m / 12 m A3; remote 30,184

The lower-capacity 3 t example costs more than the 10 t example because these are different configurations; the table cannot isolate the effect of span or any single feature. The USD 5,513.20–30,184 range is not a universal gantry price band. Confirm the hoist, drives and electrical scope, then price rails, foundations, freight, taxes, erection and commissioning separately.

05Eliminate the layout mismatch before ordering

Consider a workshop that needs a hook beyond the gantry legs to load a truck. A crane sized only for the bay span may leave the truck outside useful reach. Compare the cantilever, hook approach and truck route on the arrangement drawing before selecting the final structure.

Where flexibility is the main issue, compare powered floor travel and rail travel. Where the route is fixed, evaluate the installed system and its maintenance access.

06Buyer questions

Is double girder always better for an industrial gantry?

No. It must solve a specific capacity, duty, trolley or geometry requirement. Compare the complete arrangements rather than applying a universal tonnage rule.

Can I move a portable gantry while loaded?

Only if the manufacturer approves the exact operating arrangement and conditions. Castors and an electric hoist do not establish permission for loaded travel.
